We are excited to be working with <a title=\"Elsevier\" href=\"http:\/\/www.elsevier.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Elsevier<\/a> to have the proceedings published in a dedicated issue. Elsevier is a world-leading provider of scientific products and services and their online service <a title=\"ScienceDirect\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ScienceDirect.com\" target=\"_blank\">ScienceDirect.com<\/a> is accessed by over 17 Million unique scientists and professionals on a monthly basis. This will ensure that the HumTech2014 proceedings will have the widest possible reach within the academic community. All HumTech2014 papers will be available as OPEN ACCESS.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>General Guidelines<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Abstracts-Only and Paper Submission <\/strong><br \/>\nAll abstracts-only and paper submissions should contain original and high quality work. Abstracts and papers should be submitted electronically, using the <a title=\"CMT - Microsoft Research\" href=\"https:\/\/cmt.research.microsoft.com\/HT2014\/\" target=\"_blank\">conference management tool (CMT)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>More than one abstract\/paper may be submitted for consideration; please submit each paper separately.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Abstract-Only: If authors wish to contribute a talk or poster without submitting a full paper, you may submit a short abstract (one page, ~500 words) in lieu of a paper. Full papers will be given preference when selecting contributed <strong>talks<\/strong>. Please use the same online submission form. The deadline for Abstracts-Only is rolling.<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p>HumTech2014 is pleased to be using <a href=\"https:\/\/cmt.research.microsoft.com\/HT2014\/\" target=\"_blank\">CMT<\/a>, a conference management service sponsored by Microsoft Research, for all submissions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Paper Templates<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Papers can vary in length, can can be of the following styles:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Rapid Communication (2 pages)<\/li>\n<li>Letter (2 &#8211; 4 pages)<\/li>\n<li>Article\u00a0 (4+ pages, max of 10 pages)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We believe that a healthy mix of these types of manuscripts will enhance the overall quality of the\u00a0HumTech2014 conference proceedings.<\/p>\n<p>Please submit papers as PDFs or Word documents by the submission deadline.<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em> We strongly encourage the use of the Elsevier MS Word templates even at this stage.<\/em><\/span> For the Camera-Ready-Copy, both MS Word files and PDFs will be requested, and must conform to the Elsevier provided MS Word templates.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a title=\"Formatting Guidelines\" href=\"http:\/\/www.humanitariantechnology.org\/HumTech2014\/?page_id=483\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Formatting Guidelines and MS Word Template<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Paper Review<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All papers will be reviewed by 1 to 3 reviewers. Reviewers will be assigned by subject area expertise.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abstract\/Paper Presentation <\/strong><br \/>\nEach submission will either be:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Accepted for a contributed talk<\/li>\n<li>Accepted for a contributed poster<\/li>\n<li>Deferred \/ Rejected<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Papers may require minor revisions based on reviewers comments.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Best Paper \/ Best Poster<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The top paper and top poster in select conference tracks will be awarded the Best Paper and Best Poster Award. Papers and posters will be judged based on technical quality, originality, clarity, and impact.
